IVY & THE RED DREAD

2024

Sci-fi concept art of two characters: Ivy and DR-34D (The Red Dread).

A dystopian Earth far in the future where humans have been eradicated but the idea of religion continues to exist. The earth is consumed by a plague that was released by a mysterious black tear that fell onto the earth; it is said to have been shed by God and its black color was a result of humanity’s sins. The plague contaminates all lifeforms and turns the natural landscape into a piece of fantasy. The world is overrun by monsters and mechanical beings, of which the latter have gained sentience through their artificial intelligence.

Controlling the mechanical society at every corner are the so-called Antaka. Unlike the humans who believed in God, the Antaka worshipped themselves as the superior being.

Hidden underground in the old ruins of human civilization are the “New Humanists” a group of rebels who worship humans and the God(s) of humans. They wish to mimic humanity's every move and have developed an organic appearance. They await the end of the world and the arrival of God's wrath upon the Antaka who used the black tear to eradicate humanity.

One day, a mysterious being from outer space, or “God” as the New Humanists call it, shed a second tear, a white tear, that dropped onto Earth. The black tear is currently in the hands of the Antaka, while the one who found the white tear is an ancient nomadic robot named DR-D340 (Dread) who is neither an Antaka nor a New Humanist. Dread was once a human who transferred his consciousness into a robot right before extinction and expressed a strong dislike towards both robotic parties. Inside the tear is an androgynous child with three eyes and on its neck is a birthmark that resembles the word "Ivy," but more surprisingly, it can survive and breathe in the deadly air of the Earth. As the black tear ended human life, it is theorized that a pure white tear, free from any sin, is a sign of a new beginning for human life.

The Antaka believe that Ivy is a threat to robot life, while the New Humanists worship Ivy as if Ivy is the second coming of Christ, the Messiah.
But Dread knows that Ivy leaves so much more to be revealed than what the naked eye could see. Ivy has a power that is beyond humans and robots alike. Although at first reluctant, Dread protects Ivy as Ivy is constantly under threat from both the Antaka and the New Humanists as they are all searching for the two tears.
